Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to plan your visit to The London Tea Room. Still have a question? We’d love to hear from you.

Reservations & Visiting

Do I need a reservation?

No, reservations aren’t required, but we highly recommend booking ahead, especially on weekends, so we can have a seat ready for you.

Where are you located?

You’ll find us at 255 Union Blvd, St. Louis, MO 63108‍

What are your hours?

We’re open Wednesday through Sunday, 10:00am–5:00pm, and closed Monday and Tuesday.

Where can I park?

We have 14 dedicated parking spaces for our guests, plus free street parking and a large public lot located behind the building.

Do I need to choose Afternoon Tea or High Tea when I book?

No, you don’t choose your menu in advance. Once you’re seated, your server will explain both options and each guest can choose individually. Service add-ons can be ordered online while making your reservation. We offer two seasonal set menus, both available any time we’re open: Afternoon Tea ($45 per person) includes three savoury items, a sweet scone, four small desserts, and a pot of tea; High Tea ($40 per person) includes five savoury items, a savoury scone, a pot of tea, and no desserts.

How long does the tea service last?

We book reservations for 90 minutes, giving you plenty of time to relax and fully enjoy the tea service experience.

Is there a dress code?

Not at all. Whether you’re dressing up for a special occasion or keeping it casual, come as you are. We want you to feel comfortable.

Is the tea room ADA accessible?

Yes. Our front entrance has a few stairs, but our ADA-accessible entrance is at the rear of the building, conveniently next to the parking lot. Both men and women's restrooms are ADA accessible.

Why do you require a credit card for some reservations?

Reservations for parties of six or more require a credit card to hold the booking. Your card is not charged when you book; we only charge $25 per guest if your party doesn’t arrive and hasn’t cancelled at least one hour before the reservation time. To avoid the charge, just let us know at least an hour ahead if your plans change.

The Tea Experience

What is afternoon tea, and what’s included?

Each tea service is a seated dining experience: a pot of premium loose-leaf tea, freshly baked scones with cream and jam, savoury finger sandwiches and bites, and a selection of sweets.

What’s the difference between Afternoon Tea and High Tea?

Afternoon Tea is the classic, sweet-leaning service created in the 19th century. High Tea is heartier and more savoury, traditionally an evening meal, and a wonderful substantial lunch today.

How much is tea service?

Afternoon Tea is $45 per guest, High Tea $40, and our Wee Tea (ages 12 & under) is $36. See the full menu for details.

Do you welcome children?

Absolutely, children are welcome. Our Wee Tea, for ages 3–12, is $36 per child: a smaller version of our Afternoon Tea with two savoury items, a smaller scone, and three bite-size desserts, plus the option of hot chocolate instead of tea. High chairs are available upon request.

Can you accommodate dietary needs?

We offer gluten-free, vegan, and vegetarian options. Please note our kitchen is not an allergen-free environment, so we cannot safely accommodate severe allergies, including celiac disease. If you have multiple dietary needs, we'll do our best to give you an equivalent experience, though some items may be repeated rather than uniquely substituted. If you're unsure whether we can accommodate you, please contact us before your visit.

Can I stop in for just tea and a scone?

We're a full-service tea room. Tea and scones are part of our complete tea service rather than standalone dine-in items, so they're enjoyed as part of the full experience.

I don’t like tea. Do you serve anything else?

Absolutely, we also serve coffee and hot chocolate. And if you’re open to trying tea, our staff would love to help you find a blend you might enjoy.

Can I bring a birthday cake or outside food?

We don’t permit outside food or drinks, with one happy exception: celebration desserts. You’re welcome to bring a birthday or special-occasion cake to enjoy with your tea; just let us know in advance so we can have it ready for your table.

I pre-ordered a celebration cake. Is my tea service included?

No, a pre-ordered celebration cake (such as our blueberry cake) is a separate purchase from your tea service. Paying for the cake ahead of time reserves the cake only; your Afternoon Tea or High Tea is paid separately at your visit. If you’re ever unsure what’s included, just ask and we’ll happily walk you through it.
